Recipes for old-style Pan Scandinavian Almond Crescents
I love digging through my collection of vintage recipes and find new (and old actually) recipes to try. Here are a couple that are right for the holidays, but it delights at any time of year. This recipe for gingerbread old-fashion is perfect for the holidays, as it is quick, easy, and served eighteen. The Scandinavian Almond Crescents make a wonderful gift to share with family, friends, coworkers, teachers, etc. It would also make a great "food" gift that is sure to please. I hope you enjoy these recipes.
SCANDINAVIAN ALMOND crescents
This recipe was cut from the back of a package of Parkay margarine age.
1 container (8 ounces) Soft Margarine Parkay
Sifted powdered sugar
January 1 / 2 teaspoons almond extract
2 1 / 4 cups flour
1 / 2 cup finely chopped almonds, toasted
Beat margarine and 1 / 4 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the extract. Add flour and mix well. Add almonds. Mild form teaspoons of dough into crescents, place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheet immediately. Cool 5 minutes, sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar.
Yield: About 5 dozen cookies

2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 / 2 cup shortening
1 cup molasses
1 / 2 cup sour milk and soda 1 * teaspoon
2 1 / 4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
cloves 1 / 2 teaspoon
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1 / 2 teaspoon ginger
1 cup hot water or hot coffee
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix eggs, sugar, butter, molasses and milk thoroughly. Add flour, baking powder, salt, cloves, cinnamon and ginger. Mix with sugar mixture and mix well. Add hot water or coffee, mix well. Grease and lightly flour a baking pan 9 x 13 inches. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Serves 18.
* The milk is sour buttermilk
